About Us

The East Central Illinois Mobile Law Enforcement Training Team is a not-for-profit corporation recognized by resolutions from the units of government it serves.

The mobile team is affiliated with the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, the state agency which certifies law enforcement training in Illinois, under authority of Public Act 82-674.

Training class in session

The team is staffed by a full-time project director who is directed by an advisory board comprised of sheriffs, chiefs of police, and law enforcement command staff.

We maintain an administrative office on the third floor of the Coles County Courthouse on Jackson Street in Charleston. In addition, we operate a training center on DeWitt Avenue in Mattoon.

Funding for Mobile Team #13's programs comes from:

The Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board contributes 50 percent toward the budget from traffic and criminal fine monies collected from the Criminal Justice Surcharge Fund.

Local match of 50 percent by cash and in-kind contributions made by local law enforcement agencies.

Mobile Team #13 also offers the Retired Officer Concealed Carry certification on a quarterly basis. This program provides for annual firearms qualifications for retired police officers regardless of mobile team affiliation.
