Police Sniper/Observer

This Course is designed for In-Service Training Purpose

 

PURPOSE OF COURSE:  The purpose of this course is to provide officers with the necessary training to certify and be proficient as a Police Sniper/Observer.

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  This course will utilize classroom instruction with discussion and PowerPoints, field exercises, live fire range drills, rifle qualification, and a written examination.

 

GOALS:  The Goals of the Course are as follows

      Ensure each officer is proficient with their rifle/scope combination

      Ensure each officer knows how to maintain and care for their weapon

      Ensure each officer is proficient in observation and information gathering

      Ensure each officer understands proper documentation of records

 

COURSE PREREQUISITES: Must be a certified police officer in Illinois.  Officers should be in good physical condition, this is a physically demanding course and can be stressful, and multiple days of firing in different positions can take a toll on some officers.

 

METHODS OF EVALUATION:  Officers attending this course will be evaluated on class discussion, participation, written test, cold bore shots and final qualification.
