Description | PURPOSE OF COURSE: A one day course for firearms instructors to learn how to write range based course syllabuses, courses of fire and lesson plans. The curriculum is interactive with trainees constructing written documents based on the major topics.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is primarily classroom based instruction on training documentation. The significance of proper documentation is stressed from a liability standpoint and as an aid to conduct better training. Power point based lecture discussion is used to illustrate key concepts and variation of formats, with instructor led projects. At the conclusion of main topic blocks, trainees move into break out session and are given assignments to construct written syllabus, course of fire and lesson plan. Trainees then present their documents to the group as for critique and commentary. The lesson plan exercise involves writing a lesson plan that is graded by another trainee under the concept of could a substitute teach from this lesson plan. Implementation and usage of the formats are shown.
