Description | PURPOSE OF COURSE: A one day course for firearms instructors to acquire additional skills for assessing shooter aptitudes over a wider spectrum of skill sets and innovative target scoring that progress beyond the traditional scoring system. Traditional scoring methods evolved from competition shooting and may not accurately assess multiple tasks, decision making or other critical skills unique to law enforcement applications. .
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course a mix of classroom instruction, range session and activity based learning. Attendees participate in shooting courses, student run range sessions, classroom theory and individual program development. The techniques and methods presented place an emphasis on accuracy over speed, cognitive skills with the accountability for every shot fired. Trainees learn how to facilitate innovative courses of fire and participate in drills and exercises from the end-user perspective.
A major emphasis is placed on the standards based assessment model which measures multiple interrelated skills from a single platform and uses less ammunition than other formats. Trainees are shown how to facilitate the method and construct a standards assessment format that applies to their agency. Additional tasks involve item analysis procedures to better assess and isolate remedial shooters, and refocus training tasks as needed. |
