| Location | Denny Stewart Law Enforcement Training Center, 3121 Dewitt, Mattoon, Il. |
| Description | PURPOSE OF COURSE: This 8-hour seminar has been created to specifically prepare officers, investigators, command staff, coroners, deputy coroners, and other team members in becoming effective interviewers while navigating through today’s complex crime scenes and death investigations.
A first responder’s responsibilities and their ability to effectively conduct truth-seeking interviews in a timely manner have proven to be a vital part of determining what happened. When establishing cause, manner and the questionable circumstances of a violent crime, first responders are the first interviewers in the field. There is no room for error and time is valuable.
Having the skills to effectively interview reluctant witnesses, persons of interest, possible suspects, family members and other sources is priceless. Being on the front lines of today’s most detailed investigations, first responders must be able to professionally gather crucial information early on. They must be able to effectively build rapport, empathize, and know the right approach while maintaining compassion and understanding. It’s time to sharpen your skills and dig up the truth.
