| Description | PURPOSE OF COURSE: This training program has been designed by a clinical professional with the purpose of addressing the issues of inmates who are pregnant while incarcerated. This training will satisfy the portion of the House Bill 3653 - SAFE-T Act/(730 ILCS 125). The Unified Code of Corrections and County Jail Act requires training on the medical and mental health care issues applicable to pregnant prisoners. COURSE DESCRIPTION: This 4-hour training focuses on understanding the unique changes that have been made to the jail standards that affect pregnant inmates. This training will address how to interact with preg-nant inmates during their incarceration and during the time of their birth. Information will be provided as to the medical, emotional, and nutritional needs of the pregnant inmate. GOALS: The goals of this course are as follows: To understand the Jail Standards as they apply to pregnant inmates To understand the role of the officer when interacting with pregnant inmates To understand the differences in daily life of a pregnant inmate |
