Basic Crime Scene Photography

PURPOSE OF COURSE:  To instruct police officers, detectives, and crime scene investigators in proper methods of crime scene evidence documentation through photography.  This course will apply hands-on learning exercises to educate students and give them practical confidence to process scenes and use their equipment.   Complete Crime Scene Photography will cover everything from basic camera operation to advanced photography.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:   This 24 hour CSI photography course will provide students with in-depth knowledge of their camera working system and how to document scenes.  Photography is an integral part of processing a scene and demands thorough understanding.  Skilled photography is much like learning a new musical instrument; everyone learns at a different pace.  This course will spend time diving into the basics of camera operation to build a foundation before applying advanced techniques.  Students will spend the large majority of class with hands on their camera, learning skills, and conducting practical exercises.  Specific topics will be taught including lab quality images, night time photography, macro photography, and impression photography.  At the conclusion every student will be comfortable with their camera and be prepared to process crime scenes through photography.
