This Course is designed for In-Service Training Purpose
PURPOSE OF COURSE: The purpose of this course is to provide officers with the necessary training to certify and be proficient as a Police Sniper/Observer.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will utilize classroom instruction with discussion and PowerPoints, field exercises, live fire range drills, rifle qualification, and a written examination.
GOALS: The Goals of the Course are as follows
- Ensure each officer is proficient with their rifle/scope combination
- Ensure each officer knows how to maintain and care for their weapon
- Ensure each officer is proficient in observation and information gathering
- Ensure each officer understands proper documentation of records
COURSE PREREQUISITES: Must be a certified police officer in Illinois. Officers should be in good physical condition, this is a physically demanding course and can be stressful, and multiple days of firing in different positions can take a toll on some officers.
METHODS OF EVALUATION: Officers attending this course will be evaluated on class discussion, participation, written test, cold bore shots and final qualification.
