Informant Management and Undercover Operations

PURPOSE OF COURSE:  This one day, 8-hour course has been designed to provide the students with the knowledge and skill to cultivate, manage, and work operationally with confidential informants.  Additionally, this course will also provide the knowledge and skill to work in an undercover capacity in criminal cases.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  This 8-hour course will be taught in partnership with a seasoned gang investigator/undercover operator and his long-term Confidential Informant (CI), who have both worked approximately 75 undercover operations together as a team across the nation.  Students will be taken on a detailed chronological journey of this partnership between law enforcement handler and informant, spanning the last 9-years.  The course will include case studies with operational videos, audio clips, and photos.  There will also be a Q&A session with the students throughout the presentation.

• Learn how to relocate (witness protection) confidential informants
• Understand how to work street operations with confidential informants
• Fundamentals of being an undercover operator
• Learn how to build your undercover “legacy/backstory”
• Maintaining safety during undercover operations
• Understand how to conduct undercover street operations
• Understand how to conduct undercover operations in a detention setting
• Learn how to testify in court proceedings regarding undercover work
