Juvenile Officer
This program will certify officers successfully completing the training as juvenile officers. Program content includes an in-depth analysis of the Juvenile Court Act and its impact in the field. Also included in the training are timely topics such as juvenile gangs, substance abuse, alternatives to detention, abuse, neglect, exploitation, teenage suicide, and criminal sexual assault. Take-home materials useful during juvenile investigation, interventions and detention will also be provided.
The program is administered by Western Illinois University Staff and selected juvenile practitioners.
This program is restricted to sworn law enforcement officers. To receive certification, trainees must attend all of the instruction and pass a seventy question final examination.
This program is being taught primarily by Gail Sullivan. Gail has always been a favorite instructor here at MTU 13. We
look forward to having her back. She is being assisted by a couple other instructors as well.
