Law Enforcement Medical Instructor
Course Description:
Combines the study of first aid, safety education, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as recommended by the American Heart Association and the stop the bleed initiative. Emphasis is placed on methods of prevention and emergency care of injuries caused by accident and sudden illness. CPR certification includes resuscitation of the adult, child and infant. This training would meet the IL House Bill 3653 Medical training standard.
Officers attending this 8-hour block of training will learn both the skill and the training techniques to go back to their respective departments and teach the skills to their fellow officers. Officers will also be able to teach for the MTU . Officers are focusing their instruction on keeping people alive for 15-20 minutes until a higher level of trained technician can arrive.
